More and more, we take our favorite movies and music with us wherever we go. The owner and guests aboard the sailing superyacht Koo can now do that, too, thanks to a refit. Plus, they get to enjoy additional entertainment options.
Koo (originally launched as Red Dragon, by Vitters Shipyard in 2002) underwent an extensive A/V upgrade at Compositeworks in La Ciotat, France. The A/V specialist selected, Veritais, upgraded the initial installation about three years ago for the same owner. Back then, the company installed an alfresco cinema for the cockpit. Pictured here, it included a 3D projector and a tablet as a controller, plus an extra button-equipped remote control. Koo also gained WiFi throughout her spaces. This time around, Veritais stepped up the A/V system, significantly.
The owner and guests of Koo can play far more movies in the alfresco cinema, or even the saloon. The same is true of music. Veritais installed a more powerful PC as part of the centralized rack system. This PC is customized to rip DVDs, Blu-Ray discs, and music CDs, plus operate around the clock. It’s linked to an external optical drive in the saloon for the same purpose. Speaking of the saloon, Veritais adapted the cabinet containing the pop-up TV, plus the riser for the TV itself, for better operations.
When they want to hear their favorite tunes in their staterooms, everyone aboard Koo can use their personal mobile devices. It’s courtesy of a new Apple AirPort Express system. This complements the Apple Airplay system that Veritais provided three years ago. Furthermore, those same personal devices can control the air conditioning, close the blinds, and call up the CCTV feed.
The yacht’s owner and guests aren’t the only ones benefitting from the A/V upgrade. Koo’s engineer now has a new, small PC capable of controlling all the yacht’s systems around the clock. Should something need troubleshooting, Veritais’ team can tap into the network and “see” the information, too.
