Sea Owl was a highly anticipated delivery this year. Our story on the hand-over of this Feadship is among the top 10 most-read articles on MegayachtNews.com this year. Sea Owl certainly has a striking profile, and Feadship’s Royal Van Lent shipyard is well regarded. But the anticipation goes beyond that. When you understand why Sea Owl was commissioned, the popularity makes sense. The 203’5” (62-meter) megayacht belongs to experienced owners who are raising a family of avid cruisers.
That’s why Sea Owl is far larger than her same-named predecessor. That yacht, 142 feet (43.3 meters) LOA, was delivered in 2010. The owners soon realized that their growing family would require more space. But the new Sea Owl isn’t simply a bigger boat. She’s being used by the owners and their family to explore the world. In the process, Sea Owl is a virtual floating classroom, for young and older alike. (Note we say “older,” not “old.” After all, when you’re on the water, it’s impossible to feel old.)
Enjoy this look around the exterior decks of Sea Owl. You do get a glimpse of a lovely dining area high above the water, but no views of the incredibly complex and detailed saloon, staterooms, and even stairway. (But, even though you get only a glimpse of one interior room, you don’t miss out. In fact, pay attention when the sundeck pool is shown. Beneath the water, there’s a playful grinning shark painted on the pool wall.
