Every yacht naturally springs from her owners’ imagination. However, the imagination of the family cruising aboard Sea Owl since delivery is extra-inventive and inspired. For sale for the first time since then, their intricately detailed megayacht will delight adults and children who share a sense of adventure. She’s especially for those who want visions of pirates, Peter Pan, and more to last right up until they lay their heads down to sleep.
This family-focused Feadship flew from the shipyard nest in 2013. Her rich-green hull color and abundant varnished wood on deck complement Winch Design’s exterior styling. The 203’5” (62-meter) megayacht, with one of the most technically advanced security systems, reserves the biggest visual treats for inside. One of the biggest, literally, is a hand-carved mahogany mural. It’s a tree, with curious creatures peering out from behind its extraordinary trunk and branches that rise up from the lower deck to the sundeck.
If you wish to educate your children about the world through travel, you’ll find kindred spirits in these owners. A bridge-deck staff cabin becomes a classroom when needed, for instance. Italian history is the ideal conversation topic for family dinners, since a Venetian-themed mural adorns the formal dining area (top). Even taking her elevator is a journey, thanks to a trompe l’oeil garden painted within it.
Of course, kids need some time on their own to let their imaginations run wild. And what better place to do so than in a pirate-themed stateroom. Edward Teach, a.k.a. Blackbeard, surely never had it so good. For a change of pace, while still remaining firmly fantastical, another kids’ stateroom reflects an Alice in Wonderland decor.
All of these details make for an inarguably more dramatic yacht, already dramatic due to a volume of 1,494 gross tons. That said, though, Sea Owl artfully walks a tasteful line. From the owners’ suite (above) to the other three adult staterooms, the feeling is serene. Lounges inside and out on the 40-foot (12.2-meter) beam boat feel the same way, too. Yet, they still inspire adults to let their imaginations run, especially the library, with thematic nods to Sir Isaac Newton and his Mathematical Principals of Natural Philosophy. Even the custom Hodgdon tenders are whimsical, christened Hatchling and Fledgling, and perfectly matching their mothership.

He’s not real, of course. He’s painted on the wall of the hot tub on the sundeck. But his toothy grin might just convince you that you can meet plenty of amiable sea creatures in your own adventures onboard.
