We’re getting glimpses at the interior design of the Matica series superyacht from Moonen, set for summer delivery.
Contemporary and cozy were the watchwords from the owners for Adam Lay Studio. Judging from Adam Lay’s own commentary and that of the owners, the design firm hit the proverbial nail on the head. In fact, he says, “Our initial instincts regarding the Matica were pretty spot on, as we agreed on a fabric scheme during the first presentation to the owners!” As for the owners, they like how the megayacht mixes prettiness with practicality. “Adam worked with us to achieve a sense of space defined by clean lines and highlighted by beautiful fabrics and wonderful abstract art,” they explain. “Durability was a major consideration for the fabrics, as our teenagers bring lots of friends onboard. At the same time, we wanted a modern, calming atmosphere, as we intend the yacht to be a place of relaxation.”
Throughout the interior of the Matica, bleached oak lies underfoot. Walnut is used for furnishings and paneling, with fabric wall coverings in some areas, too. Luxury touches like leathers and stones also appear. But, as the renderings show, the megayacht (whose name hasn’t been revealed yet) is subdued, not sumptuous.
The owners collaborated with Adam and Kelda Lay, also part of the studio, on the Matica’s exterior spaces as well. The designers sketched out sunpads and more, down to the stitching and piping details for the owners to check out. Caribbean-like tones are used sparingly to accentuate neutral ones on seating.
“It has been a true pleasure to work together with Adam and Kelda, who have helped us work out design principles that will result in an ideal boat for the whole family,” the owners say.
