Smooth, sporty, and speedy superyachts have been specialties of AB Yachts since it opened its doors in 1992. Some clients want to go a bit faster, though. In fact, an American who thrills to high performance is the owner of the first AB 95S yacht, which just launched this week.
AB Yachts announced the series as a racing-car version of its AB 95 range in 2024. “S” primarily stands for “Sport,” since the exterior lines are sleeker, with a few more aesthetically forceful accents. The windshield rake complements the assertive stance, too, and the glass wraps around the sides of the yacht. Speaking of glass, the AB 95S yacht also has a slide-open smoked-glass panel within the roof.
Complementing this low-slung profile, the AB 95S yacht packs a lot of horsepower below decks. According to AB Yachts, she’s among the first motoryachts running on the new MAN V12X-2200 powerplants. They offer 2,200 hp each. The triple configuration aboard this new megayacht should permit her to top upwards of 53 knots. The shipyard emphasizes that maneuverability and helm control remain stable in the higher range.
An entirely composite yacht with liberal carbon fiber usage for further weight savings, the AB 95S yacht offers adrenaline-seekers the alfresco amenities they desire. So, for instance, a beach area occupies the aft main deck and transom. In fact, a seating area facing the sea nestles directly against the transom, while another seating area with a table, catering to meals or cocktails, sits on the main deck.
Since the latter seating area faces forward, it’s suited to becoming an indoor-outdoor lounge with the saloon and dining area. Nearly full-height windows to each side and a massive skylight—the sliding roof previously mentioned—amplify the indoor-outdoor feel.
With a décor featuring leather, suede, and woods down to all staterooms below decks, the AB 95S yacht has an entirely open-plan main deck. This includes the helm, where triple seats face a bridge console integrated into the layout.
Final fit-out and sea trials will continue for the next few weeks, with delivery set for April. The owner will be able to cruise with a tender exceeding 13 feet, stowing in a transom garage. A waterbike and multiple inflatables will stow there as well.
