How would you like to experience 50 knots aboard a 100-footer? ISA Yachts pledges it will happen aboard the Super Sportivo 100 GTO, its latest contract. A European buyer should begin zipping around coastlines aboard the megayacht beginning in 2020.
The semi-custom megayacht is the latest series offering from ISA Yachts, with construction taking place in Ancona, Italy. To save weight and therefore maximize speed, the Super Sportivo 100 GTO features composite construction with carbon fiber as well as Kevlar. Carbon fiber and Kevlar also boost strength.
Marco Casali of Marco Casali Too Design is responsible for the styling and naval architecture. “ISA Super Sportivo 100 GTO stems from the idea of creating a boat that would exalt the values of sportiness and seaworthiness typical of an open boat,” he explains. Sporty, open boats provide swift speeds, for instance. That’s why 50 knots is the anticipated top end. Triple 2,000-hp MTU diesel engines should make it possible.
Styling-wise, the yacht blends a little of the old and new. The shipyard wanted to update its previously successful ISA Sport series. Clorinda, delivered in 2017, was hull number 11 in the ISA Sport 120 series, for instance. For the new series, Casali incorporated opening glass panels in the superstructure. He also made the large air intakes in the upper portion of the hardtop as aesthetically important as they are functional.
Further for the new series, Casali created general arrangements with three to five staterooms, plus two crew cabins. Thus far, ISA Yachts hasn’t said what the owner of hull number one requested. Regardless, the Super Sportivo 100 GTO, along with her larger sisters in the series, is intended for personalization.
