Why limit customers to one style when they might instead prefer a choice? In this vein, AB Yachts has two versions of its newest model, the AB95 yacht. Even with the configuration difference, both megayachts blend style with speed, characteristics that customers expect from the Italian builder.
Firstly, the AB95 complements a growing line of models from AB Yachts, which most recently saw a new sportfly, the AB 110 yacht, hit the water. Both versions of the 95 come from the mind of the same designer as the 110, that being Marco Casamonti of Archea Associati. Casamonti is also the artistic director for AB Yachts’ parent company, Next Yacht Group. Like the 110, one version of the AB95 yacht is a flying-bridge design (below). There’s a good amount of space up top, too, for chatting with the captain about the upcoming destination or simply enjoying the ride. Two stairways, in carbon fiber composite, lead up here from the main aft deck.
The alternate version carries an “S” designation, the AB95 S (top). Consider it to mean “sporty,” “streamlined,” and definitely “speedy.” The 93-foot (28.5-meter) motoryacht skips the flying bridge in favor of an opening hardtop. AB Yachts likens her to “a ‘racing car’ of the sea,” due to her sleek profile and spirited performance. MAN engines with steerable waterjets and a central booster waterjet should allow her to hit a 50-knot maximum speed. Cruising speeds, meanwhile, should be in the mid-30-knot range. Speaking of range, you’ll still be able to access plenty of sandy shores from the mainland USA at that speed. AB Yachts is accustomed to customers leaving Florida, for example, to enjoy island hopping in the Bahamas for several days.
Regardless of the AB95 yacht configuration you choose, you have four staterooms to accommodate your entire party. Pullman berths naturally can go in one of those staterooms if you enjoy entertaining a bigger crowd. An open-plan main-deck layout keeps friends feeling part of the action if the captain handles maneuvers from the interior helm. Finally, in both models, the foredeck has welcoming seating and sunning spaces, but without interfering with the anchor-handling gear.
In related news, AB Yachts’ sister company, Maiora, has added another model to its Exuma series. She’s the 36 Exuma (below), a 118-footer (36-meter) for enjoying shallow-water cruising amid good volume. She, too, is a flying-bridge megayacht, like her predecessor, the Maiora 35 Exuma, and should see 35-knot speeds.
