Taiga Motors developed the world’s first all-electric snowmobiles. In 2020, it decided to venture into watercraft, taking along the same idea of entirely electrifying operations. The first units in the Taiga Orca electric PWC series started rolling off the production line this summer, and both media and consumers are having a blast.
In fact, the waterbike can hit a reported top speed of 65 mph. Yet, it does so quietly, and with essentially non-existent throttle lag. Additionally, the Taiga Orca electric PWC provides two riders the ability to cruise up to 28 miles (45 kilometers).
We tell you more about this fun way to experience the water in this month’s edition of the MegayachtNews.com newsletter. Sent exclusively to subscribers, the newsletter features information not included here on our daily updated website. So, for instance, you’ll learn about a pending rule change by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), under which your speed may be dramatically reduced well offshore along the U.S. East Coast. On a more positive note, we share news about Falcon Tenders’ new production facility, and two sailing-superyacht refits currently at Front Street Shipyards.
Plus, we re-share a podcast on a timely topic, emissions regulations. Due to ongoing confusion over what sizes of yachts need to comply and when, the conversation is generating hundreds of downloads.
