April 14 was a special day for a young yacht owner and the team at Tankoa Yachts. The yacht Rose, which the owner has been heavily involved in since she was still on paper, revealed a change in styling for the Genoa-based builder.
This Tankoa T55 Sportiva sold in 2022, following months of collaboration between Tankoa Yachts and Luca Dini Design & Architecture. In fact, Tankoa approached the studio in 2021 for fresh ideas to create a new series. The designers delivered in a few ways. Firstly, a double-angled bow stands out. The vertical bow sections provide more interior room, while the flared sections deflect green water. Additionally, since Luca Dini knew clients increasingly wanted more alfresco space aft, the yacht Rose has an open-air beach area with a large, sunken pool. Arguably the most notable feature, though, is a large hull window aft straddles the waterline. Just inside is a lounge that lets the owner and guests spot underwater life as much as birds in the sky.

At the launch of this 180-footer (55-meter), Vincenzo Poerio, Tankoa Yachts’ CEO, summed up the overall concept. “We’re introducing a new take on contemporary luxury, sleeker, sportier, and with flowing lines that balance elegance and performance,” he says.
The owner has been working closely with Piero Lissoni and other designers at Lissoni & Partners for the interiors. Besides the already mentioned semi-submerged lounge, the owner wanted a main-deck master suite. It has a private terrace with a hot tub, too. It was further important that both the main and upper decks be washed in natural light, through full-height windows. While images aren’t available, the overall ambience is modern, with abundant custom touches.

Once delivery takes place in the coming weeks, the owner of the yacht Rose intends to spend significant time with guests in the pool area. They’ll be able to enjoy an upper-deck hot tub as well, sitting fully forward to take advantage of the views.
Look for Rose to debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September. In the meantime, Tankoa has hulls two and three in the T55 Sportiva yacht series in build. Hull two launches soon and is under contract. Hull three is a spec project for completion in 2027.
