The latest steel yacht from the Chioggia Shipyard found a buyer a few weeks before 2022 ended. The hull of the Ocean King Doge 400 GT series is already in build for a cruiser who has a good deal of experience on the water.
Construction began on the project in December, not long after the contract signing, in fact. The 132-footer (40.37-meter) features a bulbous bow and aft-raked pilothouse windows, which are typical of long-range, ocean-tackling superyachts. But, she also shows off a fair amount of sporty, stylish flair, especially aft. There, open side sections flank an expansive aft-deck sunning area—much like an open-air beach club. The Ocean King Doge 400 GT caught the client’s eye specifically for details like this. Chiogga Shipyard’s prior experience with steel construction was a factor, too. Its projects include the Ocean King Ducale 120, which is nearing completion now. Sea trials should wrap up in the coming weeks.

With a volume of 430 gross tons, the megayacht also attracted the buyer for the ability to customize the interior. The illustrations here are the first hints we have at what it will look like. Overall, the Ocean King Doge 400 GT provides 10 people in the owner’s party with five staterooms. Further amid the three decks, the sky lounge is a treasured leisure area. A significant amount of the vertical surfaces are glass, too, making the main saloon especially light and bright.

The shipyard anticipates that top speed should be in the mid-teens. Twin MAN diesel engines should allow significant range as well, 5,000 nautical miles at 9 knots.
