For the past several years, the Monaco Yacht Show has solicited participation from companies with more environmentally-minded products. But, some megayacht owners are committed more broadly to being better environmental stewards, as are charter clients. This September, the Monaco Yacht Show’s Blue Wake will include exhibiting yachts and concept designs for the first time.
Inaugurated last year, the initiative showcases sustainable solutions throughout the yacht show. A total of 59 companies met the vetting standards in 2025. Show organizers created the criteria with the non-profit Water Revolution Foundation. The program evolved from the Sustainability Hub in years prior. This was a portion of an on-land tent for companies offering scrutinized eco-friendly products. However, both the Sustainability Hub and Blue Wake focused on systems and components that impacted operations.
Operations remain the primary focus. Due to the Water Revolution Foundation’s ongoing efforts to provide yacht owners with science-backed evaluations, the Monaco Yacht Show’s Blue Wake can evolve. The non-profit has worked with more than 100 owners and their representatives to assess their environmental impact underway, at anchor, and in a marina. The first change for Blue Wake this year will allow shipyards with yachts on display—whether new deliveries or brokerage listings—to request evaluation. They can request evaluation for their concept designs, too. Secondly, brokers and management companies with yachts in the water can apply.
Verification for the Monaco Yacht Show’s Blue Wake is evidence-based. Among the requirements, builders or owners’ representatives must supply proof of environmental claims. These can be validations via the Water Revolution Foundation’s YETI (Yacht Environmental Transparency Index) software or another third party. Concept designs and existing yachts that haven’t yet undergone YETI review must do so.
The Monaco Yacht Show requires YETI vetting to avoid superficial statements. “What we’re building with Blue wake is a framework the industry can actually trust, not a collection of aspiration,” notes Toby Moore, CEO of Informa Prestige, which owns the show. “The environmental credibility of a yacht lives in every decision made after delivery, not only at the moment of build,” he continues. “Our partnership with Water Revolution Foundation gives us the technical rigor to make that credibility legible—to owners and charterers alike.”
Since the Monaco Yacht Show’s Blue Wake applications are currently open, show organizers will reveal participants closer to September.
