A few months from completion, the first hull of the Mangusta 132 series now has an owner. He’s a repeat client, too, so the swift speeds expected of this maxi open suit him well.
The Mangusta 132 was announced in summer 2013 as a replacement for the longstanding Mangusta 130. She should achieve the same top end around 36 knots, though with a hull design similar to that of the Mangusta 165. That hull design should permit better fuel consumption at lower speeds as well (though estimated figures are not yet available). Of course, the Mangusta 132 will also have at-anchor gyroscopic stabilizers, like her big sister.
While Overmarine Group, the parent company of the brand, hasn’t revealed all details about the owner’s choices, the Mangusta 132 can feature two helms. One is in the traditional location inside, open to the saloon. The second is on the flying bridge, something a lot of captains of megayachts in general enjoy. (Why stay inside when you can enjoy fresh air?)
We do know that the owner has opted for four staterooms in total onboard. The standard layout includes five cabins. The Mangusta design team is collaborating with him on creating a second saloon below decks. It could be a TV lounge, much the way other Mangusta owners (notably ones of the 165) have requested. The owner is further selecting woods, fabrics, stones, and other materials to suit his tastes.
Otherwise the yacht will feature the design elements that Overmarine Group incorporated purposely to reflect modern design trends. The saloon has one long port vs. split ones, and there’s a foredeck cockpit with an adjacent sunpad. That cockpit has become particularly in demand among Mangusta buyers. It debuted on the 165 in 2011 and has trickled down the size ranges ever since.
Delivery for this first Mangusta 132 is still set for this summer.
