Fourteen years after Perini Navi built her, Ellen has re-emerged from the yard with a whole new look.
The 132’6” (40.4-meter) Ellen underwent a broad list of changes. Every system was checked, with many upgraded. In fact, the initial checklist grew once the refit started, according to Capt. Pablo Pireñack. He says that when work began on Ellen, several additional must-fix items became apparent. He credits the Perini Navi tem with providing “the proper advice in moments of technical difficulties in the context of what the owner and captain need.”
Among the biggest jobs for any sailing-superyacht refit are the removal and restepping of the mast. The main mast aboard Ellen rises 121 feet (37 meters) from the deck. The video here shows how the restepping process took place a few weeks ago. While you’re watching, also keep in mind that her mizzen mast height from the deck is 90’2” (27.5 meters). Overall, Ellen carries an 8,740-square-foot (812-square-meter) sailplan.
While the video here doesn’t show it, Ellen also received a refurbished interior. The decor, traditional in nature, saw the Perini Navi craftsmen sand and re-stain the wood, among other things.
