Typically, owners with multiple yachts have dedicated tenders aboard each. The owners of the yacht Infinite Jest and her support yacht Jester, though, have taken a different approach. They commissioned a single Compass 10.3 limousine tender to serve both—and for completion quickly.
How quickly? According to Richard Faulkner, the founder and CEO of Compass Tenders, delivery needed to be within 15 months. “The brief was for a luxury limousine that could serve dual purposes,” he says, “a smart and sophisticated tender with a solid performance.” Primarily, the owners wanted the tender for the 226-foot (68.9-meter) Jester. Originally a commercial ship from 1972, she converted to yacht service at Pendennis last year. But, the owners also had a new build approaching delivery from Turquoise Yachts, the 246-foot (74.9-meter) Infinite Jest.

To meet the tight timetable, Compass Tenders recommended its semi-custom Latitude model. The model’s stowed height was a good match. Specifically, the boat stands just 6’6” (2 meters). Similarly, its draft shy of 2 feet (0.5 meters) suited the garage. The sliding glass roof, an air-conditioned cabin capable of carrying a crowd, and simple, sleek styling all ticked the right boxes, too.
Of course, Compass Tenders always anticipates modifications, like two tenders that are one-tenth a mothership’s size and mimic her looks. The company has delivered 70 customized projects over the past 17 years in business, in fact. For this 10.3 limousine tender, the team adapted the sheerline and the window shapes to complement Jester. They further created leather seating inside for 16 passengers, plus a driving benchseat for two crewmembers. Ambient lighting inside for nighttime trips, plus custom boarding handrails at the bow and stern, make the owners and passengers more comfortable. Boarding steps additionally make transferring from Jester in particular easier. They’re at the same level as her swim platform.

Once underway, the Compass 10.3 limousine tender makes quick work of getting the guests to shore for a night on the town or other needs. Twin Yanmars promise a top speed of 38 knots.
