An Otam 90 GTS, the yacht Sexy Me is part of a series offering wide-ranging customization. A semi-open superyacht made for fast performance, she exceeded her contract speed by 3 knots. She’s an overachiever even with extra weight coming from creature comforts her owner couldn’t live without.

Visitors to the recent Cannes Yachting Festival, where she premiered, got to experience that performance first-hand. According to Otam, a pair of 2,600-hp MTUs with Arneson surface drives pushed her to 45.4 knots. The yacht Sexy Me achieved this with a good number of people aboard, atypical for sea trials. Additionally, the 91-footer (nearly 22-meter) beat her contracted 42-knot speed with the addition of a custom rotating passerelle and stabilizers. That’s not all. The amount of travertine and marble aboard is above and beyond originally calculated for the contract speed, too. Additionally, a stereo system rack room sits amid the guest area below decks, supporting a DJ area up on deck.

Taking even a quick look at the yacht, though, it isn’t too hard to understand why the owner wanted more. Her metallic silver paint with bronze details—custom blended by Awlgrip—is your first hint that Sexy Me is not “just” a yacht. Her sizzling profile demands that you pay attention. The partially open main deck has stone-topped tables, plus a stone-topped bar doubling as the DJ area. More stone lies underfoot below decks in the lounge/coffee bar uniting the master suite and two guest staterooms. Of course, each of the en suite baths has stone counters and showers as well. Altogether, there’s a richness of details, from the owner’s collaboration with Giuseppe Bagnardi of the BG Design Firm.

Yet, the ambience remains light—and the megayacht herself literally remains lighter than most due to Otam’s construction methods. Fast yachts require “a meticulous analysis of weight distribution,” notes Matteo Belardinelli, Otam’s sales and communication manager. Furthermore, the shipyard leveraged its experience with fiberglass and Aramat, known for good strength-to-weight properties. Additional weight savings came from engineering the superstructure to forego relying on support pillars. The design simultaneously preserves openness and aids in the headroom exceeding seven feet (2.2 meters). “The expansive structural side windows and the spherical windscreen of the helm create an incredible sense of space onboard,” adds Belardinelli. The owner and guests can enjoy the views when seated as well. It all “translates into luxury, design, and an enhanced quality of life,” Belardinelli continues.

From the racing-car-inspired helm (including a carbon fiber section resembling Formula 1’s Halo driver-protection system) to the opening hardtop, the yacht Sexy Me has detail upon detail directly from her owner’s imagination. “Celebrating our 70th anniversary with a project like the Otam 90 GTS and with a client so decisive in their requests has been the best gift we could receive,” Belardinelli says. “It was another opportunity to take on the challenge of customizing a very fast boat, where even shifting 50 kilograms from starboard to port can have a significant impact. These are the kinds of challenges that allow us to evolve and grow.”
