The newest Mangusta 165 megayacht hit the water last week, much to the delight of her owner, who invited friends and family to the launch. She marks not just the seventh in the series from Overmarine, but also the 5thanniversary of the model.
The 163’7” (49.9-meter) Mangusta 165 is the fastest all-fiberglass open yacht in the world. Top speed is reportedly around 40 knots, thanks to triple 4,609-hp MTUs coupled to KaMeWa waterjets and a KaMeWa booster.
As you’d expect of an open-style megayacht, alfresco spaces are emphasized. Good lounging and dining areas are on the aft deck and foredeck. The open-air flying bridge contains similar gathering areas, along with sunpads.
Of course, since the Mangusta 165 is available for some customization, this owner put his imprint on the interior. Below decks, he requested an extra lounge and a gym to accompany just four staterooms, including his own. Other Mangusta 165s have featured up to five guest staterooms plus the owner’s suite down here. Above decks, the 30’2” beam should make the large saloon feel comfortable. It occupies most of the main deck, accompanied by a formal dining room.
Look for this megayacht, whose name is still confidential, to make her boat-show premiere at the Fort Lauderdale show in October. She’ll be plying the Med this summer, too, where her owner and family will put the inflatable slide and other toys to good use.
