The 341-foot (104-meter) Quantum Blue may still be at Lürssen’s facility in Lemwerder, Germany, but she’s already officially delivered. She’s merely waiting out the winter to enjoy her first spring season with her owners.
Quantum Blue was quite secretive while in build. Among the few details divulged are that styling is from Tim Heywood and interior design is from Alberto Pinto. Befitting her LOA, she has a healthy beam of about 55 feet (16.8 meters). Lürssen remains tight lipped about her, at her owners’ request.
Interesting enough, Quantum Blue was referred to as project Quantum Blue during construction. That led us and others to believe she’d bear a different name once christened.
Several other secretive projects are currently at Lürssen. Some are new-builds exceeding the size of Quantum Blue. Others are refits. In fact, the yard says six yachts are currently undergoing a variety of repairs, repaints, and more. Pelorus, delivered by Lürssen in 2003, recently finished a refit there.
You can see a photo of Quantum Blue and Pelorus docked one in front of the other on our Google+ page. The comparisons (both are styled by Tim Heywood) and contrasts are striking. Despite Quantum Blue being smaller—Pelorus measures 377 feet, or 115 meters—she’s taller and more voluminous in appearance.
