Nearly two months to the day it opened, Stabia Main Port has already attracted some of the biggest and most well-known power and sailing superyachts. Located on the Bay of Naples, a stone’s throw from the famed attractions of Pompeii, this newest Italian marina was tailor-made for megayachts, especially super-size superyachts.
Stabia Main Port is within Castellammare di Stabia, which dates back to the 8th century. It’s famous for having numerous hot springs and being next to the remains of the city of Stabiae. If you’re a history buff, you may know Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in 79 AD destroyed it. (That same eruption buried Pompeii, too.) A picturesque castle (below) is perched above the harbor’s entrance, welcoming visitors to the city and the marina.
Situated in the city center, Stabia Main Port is walking distance to shops, food markets, and restaurants. (On a side note, seemingly odd enough, one of those restaurants is an Irish pub). It has a small-village feel. Equally important, the village of people support the marina.
Furthermore, Stabia Main Port is an ideal jumping-off point for cruises to and from popular southern Italian destinations. Capri, Ischia, the protected marina area of Punta Campanella, and others are close by. What really sets it apart for the superyacht set, though, is the marina design. Local businesspeople planned Stabia Main Port on an existing marina, solely for megayachts measuring 98 feet (30 meters) and larger. They further planned side-to dockage for ones to 394 feet (120 meters). Eighteen megayachts in total can dock here, stern to and alongside. Amevi, Athena, Ester III, Megan, Titan, Solemates, and Symphony are among the visitors over the past eight weeks.
Stabia Main Port provides the amenities captains, crew, and owners expect. These include high-speed WiFi, shorepower, 24-hour security, concierge services, and more. Plus, the scenery is spectacular.
