Bigger, but not too big. That’s what Horizon customers have been telling the builder, and what the builder is observing in the marketplace. So, that’s why it came up with the E98 Motoryacht.
John Lu, Horizon’s CEO, says some buyers “are not yet ready to make the leap to 110-foot-plus yachts but are searching for something larger than 90 feet.” The buyer of hull number one fits that bill. She’s stepping up from a Horizon 76. She’ll christen the project Do It Now upon delivery in 2017, too.
The Horizon E98 features the styling and layout flexibility that characterizes other models in its lineup. These include skylounge and open-bridge configurations. Do It Now has the latter arrangement, though with twists. The owner requested a fixed windshield forward and isinglas zip-in panels to each side. The combination permits air-conditioning the space. Entertainment seems a priority for this deck, due to additional personalized features. They include a commercial-grade ice box, a barbecue (hi-lo, no less), and lounge-chair stowage. All of these complement a bar with seating for five, plus a dining area.
Horizon says the owner of Do It Now requested “many” custom touches, in fact. The only additionally divulged detail for now: The saloon is far larger, appropriating the traditional dining area’s space. Combined with the 23-foot (about 7-meter) beam, that should be plenty comfortable.
The galley, though, should be in the standard location. The Horizon E98, like many Horizons, comes with a country kitchen forward on the main deck. She accommodates eight passengers below decks, too. Draft is kept to a Bahamas-friendly six feet (1.83 meters), and speed should get you where you want to go relatively quickly. The standard propulsion package is 1,600-hp Caterpillars, with 1,900-hp ones being optional. Do It Now has the higher-horsepower engines, expected to see a 22½-knot top end at half load.
