Attention Amels customers: Do you have talented photographers among your crew? If so, the builder is holding a competition, with a purpose. In fact, the #loveouroceans photo contest aims to do more than showcase the enjoyment of the yachting lifestyle. The goal is to raise awareness of how those who pursue the lifestyle as well as the yachting industry want to keep the oceans clean.
Victor Caminada, Amels’ brand and marketing manager, says, “We’ve all witnessed a growing appreciation of the threat that ocean pollution is to the long-term sustainability of our industry.” Thankfully, he adds, yachting isn’t a major contributor to that problem. Regardless, he continues, “The problem reaches all our shores.” Therefore, the special hashtag, #loveouroceans, calls attention to the beauty of water-focused destinations, and “is a fantastic way to celebrate the whole industry’s commitment to our oceans together,” Caminada asserts.
Here’s how to enter. First, the images need to be high resolution, and relatively recent, from within the last five years. Crew aboard both Amels and Damen vessels (like the Yacht Support craft) are eligible. The boat doesn’t necessarily have to be in the photo, interestingly. As long as the image showcases a favorite yachting destination, in fact, that’s enough. Essentially, the #loveouroceans photo contest is an inspiration-focused competition, meant to encourage Amels customers to see more of the world from their decks.
The deadline to enter is March 31. Amels will reveal 10 winners at the Singapore Yacht Show, taking place April 11 to 14. The shutterbugs behind those images will receive an Amels-branded jacket made by the well-known outerwear company Musto. In addition, the photos will appear in the builder’s magazine.
Send submissions to Deniza Avamil. Be sure to mention the destination, along with other details that help explain why it’s a favorite.
