In just a few weeks, hull number one of the biggest Sanlorenzo crossover model will launch. The Sanlorenzo SX112 has an amalgam of traditional yacht and explorer yacht looks, like the other models in the line. But, being the biggest, she brings some new features to the table, too.
The SX series debuted in 2017 and includes two smaller yachts, the SX76 and the SX88. Sharply raked windscreens give this 112-footer (34.16-meter) the essence of an explorer. A flared bow and, of course, abundant alfresco areas and teak decks make her a true yacht. So, too, do long, fold-down platforms to each side aft on the main deck. This makes the cozy beach club, usable as an enclosed space, more of the indoor-outdoor area so many owners and guests enjoy. In fact, it has raked glass walls with a sliding glass door aft, making it bright even with the platforms raised.
Piero Lissoni of Lissoni & Partners wanted interiors to feel just as open and airy. Similar to what he did with the SX88, aboard the Sanlorenzo SX112, you’ll find an open-plan main deck. A layout suggestion here puts the saloon aft and another lounging and dining area up against the forward-most bulkhead. A difference, though, is the glass-enclosed stairway, almost like a sculpture sitting amidships. Natural tones and woods create a soothing atmosphere, too, amid the 26-foot (8-meter) beam.
When the Sanlorenzo SX112 launches, the shipyard expects a top speed approaching 23 knots and a cruising speed around 20 knots. Four Volvo Penta IPS units of 1,000 hp should additionally allow an economical cruising speed of 12 knots. Six feet (1.85 meters) of draft at half load mean the megayacht can cruise shallow areas like the Bahamas with relative ease.
