With boating and yachting booming due to the pandemic, people from all walks of life have come to the same conclusion. That is, being out on the water, with just your family, is one of the safest and most relaxing ways to spend time. The superyacht sector has certainly been no exception. In fact, according to Fraser Yachts, the average age of its customers today is incredibly 10 years younger than what it was in 2019. Some of those customers, too, are in their 20s and 30s. Additionally, Fraser saw a 175-percent increase in sales just from 2020 to 2021.
These dramatic developments are among the things that Mark Duncan, the director of marketing and business development for Fraser Yachts, puts into perspective on this episode of the Megayacht News Radio podcast.
For instance, he reveals:
- how social media influencers have played a role in raising the profile of superyacht ownership and charter
- why he thinks charter is the most undersold element of yachting in terms of the experience that people can enjoy
- why Fraser Yachts signed on to support a significant sustainability initiative in Monaco—and how it ties into the company’s own commitment to anti-discrimination and having a similarly supportive working environment
- and, whether Fraser Yachts clients are buying yachts or chartering, “what people are really buying into is the experience.”
