Kingship has a knack for introducing innovative projects. It’s done so with Green Voyager, a megayacht which is on pace to be far more environmentally minded than any other. Kingship is sticking with the “green” theme with its latest megayacht design, called Essence, but equally noteworthy, Essence promises to be the only one of her size range with a fully dedicated owner’s deck.
Measuring 139 feet (42.5 meters), Essence was created with Axis Group Yacht Design. The Italy-based design firm was also responsible for the styling and engineering for Kingship’s Green Voyager. You’ll see some similarities between Green Voyager and Essence, in that they both feature a plumb bow. Essence also will meet RINA Green Plus certification requirements, ensuring she has as little environmental impact during construction and operation as possible.
While full details on Essence are being released at the Monaco Yacht Show later this month, for now Kingship is getting attention for the owner’s deck concept. Specifically, it’s the entire upper deck. While other megayachts a bit larger than Essence have placed master suites up here, they still have the wheelhouse fully forward, making the suite just part of the space. No yacht of this LOA devotes all of the deck to the owner. More important, in keeping with Kingship’s knack for innovation, the master suite has features both expected and unusual. Among the former are a private terrace forward with seating and sunning spaces, with windows in the stateroom overlooking this area and the surrounding anchorage. There’s also a secluded alfresco dining area aft. As for the most unusual feature, it’s a sliding sunroof over the master bed.
As alluded to above, allowing the master suite to occupy all of the upper deck meant moving the wheelhouse. It’s forward on the main deck, with quick access to the foredeck for docking maneuvers or launching the tender. The latter is stowed beneath a sunpad there, complete with its own launching crane.
Kingship’s Essence provides accommodations for eight guests and eight crewmembers. She’s expected to cruise at 15 knots thanks to twin Caterpillar C2 diesels.
More details to follow after the Monaco Yacht Show.
UPDATE, SEPTEMBER 29: Full specifications are now available. At a 13.5-knot cruise, the yacht should see a range of 4,000 nautical miles, ideal for transatlantic or transpacific trips. Combine that with a draft of 7 feet (2.35 meters), and Essence should be able to enjoy even skinny-water anchorages without difficulty. Furthermore, the beam is a commodious 30 feet (9.35 meters).
