Leave it to two entrepreneurs with experience in advanced composites and design to introduce something super-cool and super-different to the superyacht sector. Essence of Strength (EOS for short) is a new UK-based company creating custom furnishings.
The chaise lounge pictured above is just one of several different pieces that Essence of Strength makes. What’s especially notable about it, though, is its unsupported structure. The company principals insist that this wouldn’t be possible to do in anything other than carbon fiber. (Trust them. They spent seven years researching the cantilevered design, strength, and comfort.) Neither would the sweeping curves be the same shapes. Combine them with leather, and you get part functional furniture, part piece of art.
You can learn more about Essence of Strength, and its principals, in this month’s MegayachtNews.com newsletter. There’s more news, too, not featured here on our daily website. For example, we update you on the progress of the Wider 165, Wider Yachts’ second megayacht. We also reveal an unusual refit for Derecktor’s New York yard—which doesn’t typically handle big yachts. And, as part of our Superyacht Storytellers Corner, we share tips from our sister company, the book publisher Superyacht Storytellers.
