Just because a megayacht is one of several in a semicustom series doesn’t mean it can’t stand out from the crowd. Witness the iguana skin used aboard Kate, the sixth of the CRN 43 line. That’s the material lining the headboard in the master suite aboard this 141-footer. Then there’s the combination of contrasting woods throughout the yacht, such as wenge and red pinewood.
Kate’s owners got a good look at these and other elements when the yacht launched during a private ceremony on April 21. Even though it didn’t feature the fanfare of other CRN launches, during which opera plays and hundreds of people gather, it was still attended by the craftspeople who lended a hand to bring the owner’s vision to reality.
Like the five previous deliveries in the CRN 43 series, Kate is constructed entirely of fiberglass and designed by Studio Zuccon International Project with CRN’s in-house team. She also should see a leisurely pace similar to that of her predecessors: Twin Caterpillar C32 diesel engines are expected to push her to 15.4 knots of top speed and a 13-knot cruise speed. The owner can enjoy that speed up on the sundeck or from the privacy of the fold-out balcony off his suite.
But the real highlight of spending time aboard Kate will be exploring the various tones and textures in the four guest staterooms, the fitness area inside the transom, and elsewhere. Besides the iguana-covered master headboard, there’s another unusual textile known as galusha, used in the VIP stateroom. (Galusha is commonly offered as an alternative to satin on luxury watch straps.) Angular shapes augment these and other materials like marble, heightened further by gray and taupe tones.
