It’s a busy start to the year at Amels. At the beginning of the month, Madame Kate (pictured), the latest Amels 199, slipped out of her shed. Just prior to that, the hull of the largest-ever Amels, the Amels 272, arrived at the yard. And, this past weekend, yet another Amels megayacht, known by her hull number, YN467, launched.
Like Event, the first Amels 199, Madame Kate has an edgy, modern exterior style from Tim Heywood Designs. The vertical bow and round ports are hallmarks of the look. As an Amels 199, Madame Kate is among the Limited Editions series megayachts from the yard.
Amels hasn’t revealed the layout or design scheme of Madame Kate. If she embraces features suggested when the Amels 199 was introduced, she’ll have foredeck and sundeck pools. Guests treated to lower-deck staterooms will have direct access to the beach club. And, guests in the upper-deck VIPs will have access to the above-mentioned foredeck hot tub.
Regardless, one special feature of Madame Kate is being touted by Amels. It’s her paint, pearlescent white. (It unfortunately doesn’t stand out in photos so far, since the sun isn’t directly on her.) The idea came from the owner, who has a passion for cars like Lamborghini’s Bianco Isis. That automobile was famous for its pearly appearance. The custom paint for Madame Kate will gleam at night, too. It’s thanks to specialized superstructure and underwater lighting, all of which can change colors. Look for Madame Kate to be delivered by summertime.
In other Amels news, the hull of the first Amels 272 is putting the yard’s new 656-foot-long (200-meter-long) dry dock to good use, as seen above. The superstructure should be completed soon and paired with it. At that point, the Amels 272 will rise her full five decks.
One of those decks is devoted to the owners: 3,229 square feet (300 square meters) of space. More than 9,687 square feet (900 square meters) of alfresco areas will be at everyone’s disposal aboard the Amels 272 as well. They include a pool on the sundeck and a beach club with fold-down side platforms and a sauna. Volume will be impressive, given the Amels 272’s gross tonnage of 2,827.
These and YN467, an Amels 180 undergoing sea trials this week, are among 10 new-builds at the Dutch shipyard.
