Your eyes are not deceiving you: This nearly 161-footer (49-meter) megayacht is a new build from Bilgin Yachts. She’s the Bilgin 160 Classic, christened M&M.
The megayacht is termed “Classic” not just because of her throwback looks, but also because of other elements of her design and construction. Take her hull shape. It’s a traditional schooner hull, constructed of steel. Then there’s her superstructure, entirely cold-molded—not aluminum clad with wood, as you’d expect of a megayacht of M&M’s size.
M&M launched from Turkey-based Bilgin Yachts in late July and has been conducting sea trials with her twin 700-hp MAN engines. Performance data hasn’t been revealed, though it’s likely she emphasizes leisurely cruising over speed. As you can see in the slideshow below, Bilgin Yachts outfitted M&M with many of the same modern-day amenities as contemporary-looking craft have. There are good-size sunpads and loose lounges on the uppermost deck, to take advantage of it being full open to the sky. There are also both open-air and shaded seating areas fore and aft.
Inside, M&M keeps the bygone-era looks going. Rich woods line the walls, complemented by cream carpeting and headliners. Tufted headboards and settees, antique-looking furnishings, and of course good amounts of marble and other stonework are featured as well. M&M accommodates an owner’s party of 12.
M&M will debut at the Cannes boat show next month, then head to the Monaco Yacht Show. Meanwhile, Bilgin Yachts is building another 160 Classic, for delivery next year.
