Visitors to one of the most popular megayacht marinas in Greece can now have extra ease of mind during their stays. Athens Marina, located in the city of Athens, is offering owners, captains, and crew a loyalty card that provides for 24-hour medical care, among other benefits.
Athens Marina has partnered with two companies for the services. The first is the Biomedicine Healthcare Group of Companies. It’s a health-care service provider with more than two dozen diagnostic centers throughout Greece, including one in Athens. It also has a general clinic in Athens and a private dental practice there. The second company is CrossBorderMedCare. A medical-care provider in Greece and Sweden, it specializes in international travelers’ needs, particularly urgent-care requirements. The latter includes critical first aid at an accident or other incident location, plus long-term hospitalization.
The management team for Athens Marina believes that providing medical benefits is another layer of customer service, especially for the types of clients it regularly attracts. The loyalty card affords its holders:
- 24-hour medical emergency coverage
- checkups
- diagnostic tests
- visits to doctors of all specialties
- dental services.
Athens Marina accommodates 130 megayachts to 427 feet (130 meters) through a combination of mooring and berths. Since opening in 2004, the marina claims to have welcomed 10 percent of the world’s largest megayachts. Furthermore, it is a homeport to many of them. Primary reasons for its popularity include around-the-clock security and controlled entry points. Being near the well-known port of Piraeus, and a few miles from central Athens, help as well. So, too, does being near both domestic and international airports.
