Why have one swimming pool with a waterfall onboard when you can have two? The Columbus Classic 120-meter, a nearly 400-foot-long megayacht, offers this. Though she isn’t yet under construction, she is ready for a buyer to step in and tailor, for a party of 22 to enjoy swimming, spa-ing, and more on global cruises.
Columbus Yachts and Hydro Tec teamed up for the proposal due to their collaboration on Dragon, which is nearing delivery. The builder sees the328-foot-plus (100-meter-plus) market as a logical next step. Hydro Tec emphasizes long, slender lines for this new design, along with floor-to-ceiling windows on deck and even frameless glass railings. The studio also emphasizes autonomy, an important consideration for a yacht drawing 28 feet (8.5 meters). The Columbus Classic 120-meter has five gensets to keep the hotel loads for the large owner’s party well powered away from shore. In addition, Hydro Tec anticipates the megayacht will see a 7,000-nautical-mile range at a 16-knot cruise. It’s due to twin MTUs, paired with two Rolls-Royce Azipulls for better maneuverability and efficiency, along with a central Rolls Royce booster.
Of course, the big attraction for a big yacht like this is the luxury space. The Columbus Classic 120-meter has it in spades. Besides 10 staterooms for guests on the main deck, the megayacht has a 2,799-square-foot (260-square-meter) master apartment one level up. The master suite contains a private massage room, plus has access to a private alfresco lounge and hot tub. An elevator connects all the decks, naturally, letting the owners and guests access everywhere from the uppermost helideck (a second helipad sits at the bow) to the beach club.
Accessing the beach club, though, is easiest from the main deck. In fact, the Columbus Classic 120-meter has a direct stairway connecting the two. This way, the guests can indulge in the spa and gym down here, besides the already mentioned pool. But, the pool will certainly be the center of attention. It has its own waterfall, too, drawing the flow from the main-deck pool directly above. In fact, that pool measures 36 feet (11 meters) long, plus has a glass bottom. Furthermore, it has its own waterfall.
As if these aren’t enough indulgences, the Columbus Classic 120-meter offers a dive center in the tender garage. A 39-foot (12-meter) tender can carry guests out to the best spots when the megayacht is at anchor. A similar-size limo tender, meanwhile, will take them to and from shore. Add in PWCs, SeaBobs, and more toys, and there are plenty of fun ways to spend the day.
Bearing a 62-foot (19-meter) beam, the Columbus Classic 120-meter puts plenty of indoor and alfresco lounges as well as dining areas at guests’ disposal, too. With all of the generous creature comforts, though, Columbus Yachts and Hydro Tec did not overlook crew needs. In fact, the entire lower deck forward of the engine room contains 20 cabins for them, plus two crew messes as well as a crew galley. Should more hands be needed, two additional cabins are on the main deck. Regardless, the captain and first officer have cabins on the bridge deck, near the wheelhouse.
Finally, the full “under deck” contains cold rooms and stowage to accommodate long cruises and large parties.
