The Columbus Yachts project that started as the Columbus Classic 65 Meter is now the Columbus Classic 68 Meter.
You may recall that the keel was laid for the megayacht last year. As often happens, the yacht “grew” to her current LOA of 223 feet. The Columbus Classic 68 Meter is the largest project currently offered in the Italian builder’s Classic Collection series. That series ranges from 131 to 246 feet (40 to 75 meters).
As shown above, the megayacht has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Naval architecture and styling are both by by Hydro Tec. Sergio Cutolo, head of Hydro Tec, has collaborated with Columbus Yachts on its other yachts.
A crew of 18 and an owner’s party of 10 to 12 can be accommodated. The arrangement for guest staterooms (five or six) is still open to input. It seems unlikely that anyone will change the master suite’s location, however. It occupies an entire deck above the main deck aboard the Columbus Classic 68 Meter. Other ideas sure to attract attention: a private cinema, a gym, and a helipad. Further noteworthy aboard the Columbus Classic 68 Meter: a spa, a beach club, and an enclosed observation aerie forward of the huge hot tub. An internal elevator will make getting around easier.
The Columbus Classic 68 Meter should be completed in 2016. She’ll be classed to ABS and comply with MCA and LY3 regulations.
