Alaska is a perennial favorite destination for megayacht owners, guests, and crew, too. You simply have to see the rugged wilderness, extraordinary glaciers, and equally extraordinary wildlife to believe it all. Superyacht chartering in Alaska is one of the best ways to experience all of this. Come summertime next year, the yacht Hanse Explorer will welcome charterers there for the first time, building on her owner’s and crew’s extensive knowledge of the state.
Her charter-management team at EYOS Expeditions has extensive knowledge, too. In fact, both the owner and EYOS’ private-expedition specialists have been exploring Alaska’s coast for decades. Ben Lyons, the CEO of EYOS, notes, “It is a geography perfect suited for private-yacht exploration.” It especially boasts “networks of smaller fjords and an abundance of wildlife.” Lyons says the 157-foot (47.7-meter) yacht Hanse Explorer “couldn’t be a better fit” particularly for adventure seekers. “Her entire crew understand the unique needs of expedition travel,” he says. This includes “the spontaneity to delay meals if whales are spotted,” for example. It also includes “the importance of tucking into smaller coves off the beaten track.”
Among the experiences superyacht chartering in Alaska with EYOS and Hanse Explorer affords: cruising through fjords, with massive granite walls. Additionally, you can see tidewater glaciers—some of North America’s largest—and hear them thunder as sections fall into the fjord waters. Better yet, you can climb into the yacht’s kayaks or tender to explore the floating ice up close. Another extraordinary opportunity is to observe bubble net feeding. It’s a hunting strategy in which a handful of humpback whales cooperate to create a ring of bubbles around schools of fish. The bubbles effectively act as a net, trapping the fish, which are usually herring.
The watertoys, and even the deck of Hanse Explorer, are further the best way to see the brown and black bears prowling the shoreline at low tide for food. Elsewhere on land, meanwhile, go for a hike through ancient temperate rainforests (below). Sitka spruce and western hemlocks abound, stretching 180 feet (60 meters) into the sky. Eagles often soar overhead, too, no matter where you are. Speaking of soaring, EYOS can arrange plane excursions over alpine lakes, glaciers, and moraines. Furthermore, request a visit to the Tidelines Institute, a former Alaskan homestead that is now an environmental education center.
You and 11 others can enjoy superyacht chartering in Alaska aboard the yacht Hanse Explorer starting next May. Relax in the indoor lounges after your day’s adventures, or even soak in the hot tub out on deck. Regardless, don’t miss out on the front-row seat to seeing amazing vistas from the observation deck.
Both seven- and 10-night bookings are available, from May through September 2025. EYOS Expeditions has sample itineraries for you to check out, to get the conversation started.
