Bering Yachts has a new shareholder and partner, bringing not just yachting experience but also engineering knowledge. Dmitry Vasiliev is handling behind-the-scenes business and operational matters, including ones for Bering Yachts’ Superyacht Division.
Vasiliev has more than three decades of experience in senior-executive and partner-level positions with technology companies. He further holds an Executive MBA from the University of Antwerp Management School and a PhD in Technical Sciences from an unnamed school. On the yachting side, he was the chairman of the board of Pioneer Yachts. The builder focused on high-speed composite yachts.
Alexei Mikhailov, Bering Yachts’ founder and CEO, cites Vasiliev’s varied experience as a strategic benefit. “His combination of technical expertise, shipbuilding experience, and deep knowledge of business optimization will play an important role in the next stage of our development,” Mikhailov says.
That development includes new partnerships within the Superyacht Division. The Bering 165 yacht signed earlier this year (above) is among the models in the division. With a volume of 499 gross tons, the Bering 165 yacht series unfolds over five decks. Staying true to Bering Yachts’ focus on exploration, the megayacht should see a range upwards of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots under half load. Yet another model in the Superyacht Division is the Bering 125 yacht series, with a hull approaching delivery. Vasiliev particularly will seek collaborations to strengthen Bering Yachts’ market share among yachts 164 feet (50 meters) and larger. In fact, the company says it intends to reveal its first significant partnership in this size range “in the near future.”
Simultaneously, Vasiliev is focusing on strengthening Bering Yachts’ operational reliability, across all its models. Raising the standards of construction quality falls within this as well. Overall, both business and production procedures are expected to change due to his involvement.
