Yacht-charter guests enjoying the South Pacific have new ways to support the waters and communities they visit. The Superyacht People has joined forces with the International SeaKeepers Society to connect clients with marine-conservation initiatives.
Under the partnership, specifically through SeaKeepers’ South Pacific chapter, the non-profit becomes the official Ocean Conservation Partner of The Superyacht People. The Australia-based charter and brokerage company, meanwhile, is offering voluntary conservation opportunities tailored to each client’s itinerary and interests. For instance, charter guests can participate in citizen-science projects or join expeditions with marine scientists. These experiences allow hands-on learning about important fish and other species within the waters where they’re cruising. As an alternative, charter guests can make a financial contribution as part of their charter, which goes to SeaKeepers. Either way, they get to support marine research, marine education, ocean conservation, and community-engagement initiatives in the region.
Importantly, both The Superyacht People and SeaKeepers want to integrate participation naturally into the yacht-charter experience. “Every charter is built around the ocean,” notes Cameron Bray, The Superyacht People’s founder. “It gives our clients incredible experiences, unforgettable memories, and access to some of the most pristine places on Earth.” Therefore, he adds, he and his team believe they should make it easier for those same clients to give back. “What’s exciting about this partnership is that conservation doesn’t become another obligation for clients, but an opportunity,” he points out.
Notably, the collaboration reflects the growing interest in more purposeful yacht travel. Charter guests increasingly want deeper connections with destinations, instead of simply visiting a secluded beach or diving in clear waters. Participating in conservation and research can offer a better understanding of the ecosystems making those experiences possible. SeaKeepers is already well-versed in working with yacht owners, captains, and crewmembers to support scientific research and education, of course. Its programs turn participating yachts into platforms for activities ranging from collecting data to hosting researchers. Additionally, citizen-science initiatives let the average person contribute useful observations and information.
Ultimately, “Every action a charter guest takes creates a lasting impact they can be proud they were a part of,” Bray concludes.
