Megayacht owners opting for homeporting or long-term leases at Porto Montenegro can profit from making their slips available to other yachts when the berths are not in use. The marina will now pay 85 percent of the total rental income back to the primary lease holders.
The new revenue program at Porto Montenegro was created partially based on feedback from clients, according to Tony Browne, Porto Montenegro marina director. The idea initiated with the management team. The team further wanted stakeholders to see potential for success in years to come. Adds Nizar Tagi, marina sales director, “The rental pool is a great opportunity for those looking for the security of a year-round berth, but still want the flexibility to cruise,” noting that the plan can be “more efficient for our clients.”
Porto Montenegro is among the few places worldwide, but especially in the Med, where mega-size megayachts can dock. It accommodates vessels to 591 feet (180 meters). It is located in the Bay of Kotor, which is protected by UNESCO. Some of the slips are available for 15- to 30-year leases. Regardless of the term, leaseholders receive a variety of benefits. You’re granted membership in the Porto Montenegro Owner’s Club, comprised of 200 people at present. Local businesses make exclusive offers available to members, as do Mercedes-Benz, Regent Hotels & Resorts, and the lifestyle and business concierge. Several invitation-only events are at your disposal, too. In addition, Porto Montenegro will hold the price of a larger slip for three years if you sign up for a size upgrade. And, you can sell your lease at any point during the term, potentially making a profit.
Porto Montenegro’s seven-percent VAT on marine-related services, duty-free fuel, and zero-percent VAT charters are among the other reasons the region has been growing as a homeport option.
