When it comes to drones and superyachts, a lot of discussion focuses on invasion of privacy and paparazzi. However, there’s plenty of positive use of drones, too. The AV and IT company YachtCloud has seen how owners and crew use them to record fun on watertoys, check out fish, and more. So, it decided to expand its services with a webshop called YachtDrones to offer aerial and underwater drones. The first offerings are the PowerEye and PowerRay drones.
Both PowerEye and PowerRay are from a company called Powervision. YachtCloud has the exclusive retail distribution within yachting. PowerEye (below) is what you might consider a typical drone, an aerial unit. It can fly for 30 minutes and has a 3x-zoom lens. You can switch between typical vision display and thermo display as well, thanks to a single attachment. Object-detection technology lets it avoid obstacles within about 33 feet (10 meters). PowerEye further can carry items for you, or to you. So, for example, the crew can deliver your favorite bottle of champagne to you on the beach with the drone. Finally, it’s foldable, and lightweight.
If you’re curious about the undersea world, the PowerRay (at top) is right up your alley. It can dive to 98 feet (30 meters) and has a four-hour battery life. Imagine how cool the high-definition, real-time streaming can be of fish, coral, dive and fishing sites, and more. Through an app, it can alert you to water temperature, water depth, and underwater structures. In addition, it’s suited to capturing photos and video of you and your friends using SeaBobs, PWCs, or just plain swimming. From a practical standpoint, PowerRay can help your crew inspect underwater sections of your yacht—if you accidentally ding a propeller, for example.
PowerEye costs €3,499, while PowerRay costs €2,199. Better yet, both prices are VAT inclusive. Furthermore, YachtDrones ships units globally within 24 hours of payment.
