The weeks when interior fit-out rapidly starts to progress is when most megayachts really start to show their personalities. The GX42 yacht, GX Superyachts’ debut in the large-yacht market, is at that point. These are some of the first images of how her spaces will look once formal launch takes place this summer.
GX Superyachts is Greenline Yachts’ leap into large hybrid- and solar-powered yachts. The 138-foot (42-meter) GX42 yacht is hybrid powered and should be able to produce a maximum 27 kW of solar energy. Solar panels cover the entire low-profile superstructure. Emissions-free repositioning and short-distance cruising therefore will be two big benefits. According to the builder, the yacht should be capable of venturing 100 nautical miles in electric mode at 6 knots. For transatlantic crossings, meanwhile, traditional diesels will propel her to 12 knots. Furthermore, GX Superyachts states that the GX 42 yacht should emit 60 percent lower carbon emissions than a diesel-only project of comparable dimensions.
“Build progress for the GX42 is right on target,” notes Maurizio Magri, GX Superyachts’ CCO. “It will be a moment of real pride when we unveil the boat at the Monaco Yacht Show for her worldwide debut.” The aesthetic and comfort touches from Marco Casali – Too Design, created with the owner’s input, will be on full display. For instance, as the photos reveal, the guest staterooms’ joinery and furnishings are almost finished. So, too, are the en suite baths. Shipyard craftspeople will move next to the owner’s main-deck suite and the saloon. Walnut paneling, white leather, and white lacquer surfaces create contrasts while simultaneously paying homage to naturally occurring colors, in keeping with the GX42 yacht’s performance philosophy.
“To see the interior that we designed being brought to tangible life is deeply satisfying,” Marco Casali says. “We always set a high hurdle for superyacht finish and precise detailing, but this first yacht from GX Superyachts is something else again.”
While work continues on guest and owner areas, electronics technicians are installing the instruments and running cabling in the wheelhouse. Soon, too, the hot tub will see installation on the uppermost deck.
Prior to her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show, the first GX 42 yacht will spend several weeks in the western Med with her owner aboard.
