Over the summer, Sanlorenzo announced it would introduce the SL 100 New at the Genoa boat show. Featuring a customizable interior, the model would be differentiated from the similar-size and similar-named SL 100 by a more modern-looking profile, larger windows, and the choice of either a hardtop or open flying bridge.
The first SL 100 New did indeed debut at Genoa, and she features some interesting twists in her layout. One of the biggest surprises is the way the saloon is treated more like a land-based home’s family room or living room. There’s no combination saloon-dining area; rather, dining takes place fully forward, down a starboard-side hallway. As the photo below shows, the dining room is really another relaxation spot or lounge, given the inclusion of a games table. This idea of applying a home-like concept to a yacht came from Dordoni Architetti, the Milan-based design firm that Sanlorenzo approached for the project.

More twists: The master is accompanied by just two guest staterooms, all below decks. Dordoni Architetti deliberately eliminated the expected fourth cabin to allow each stateroom to be of equal size. Good-size windows enhance the feeling and highlight the natural tones of the teak paneling, linen fabrics, and furnishings. (On an interesting side note, the furnishings are from Cassina, which supplied famous cruise ships like the Andrea Doria back in the 1950s and 1960s.) Daylight and sunlight also reflect off bronze and stainless steel pieces, further unexpected features, used on the walls and overheads.
Here’s a closer look at the SL 100 New.
