Representing “a bold step forward for Princess,” in the words of the builder’s CEO, hull number one of the Princess X90 yacht series is nearly ready for sea trials. Her owner is one of several who have a project in the series under contract, too.
Having launched at Princess Yachts’ facilities the last week of April, the yacht, just shy of 89 feet (27 meters), joins the X Class range. This means she has an extended upper deck spanning nearly her entire LOA, creating what Princess calls a “super flybridge.” But, she’s more than just another option to complement the X80 and X95 Vista models. Although she has some of the same design details, the Princess X90 yacht breaks her own design and engineering ground.
Firstly, the modest superyacht is the brand’s first with a cockpit. Furthermore, the cockpit has an expandable aft deck, via fold-down sides. These, too, are firsts for Princess. The owner will feel the same sense of uninterrupted horizon gazing that large superyacht buyers enjoy thanks also to an aft glass parapet.

When Princess Yachts revealed the series in 2024, it also wanted to provide owners and guests with better ways of enjoying the indoor-outdoor lifestyle. So, the wide glass doors separating the cockpit from the interior, which are also curved, slide and stay fully open. Effectively, the dining area, immediately inside, becomes more like a semi-sheltered alfresco space.
The Princess X90 yacht’s master suite has its own alfresco space, too. Because Princess Yachts relocated the helm to the flying bridge, healthy real estate opens up on the forward main deck for the owner’s cabin. Just opposite the bed, a gullwing door yields access to the foredeck lounge.
Finally, on the engineering side, the Princess X90 has what the builder calls a Hybrid Progressive-Planning (HPP) hull. The shipyard developed it with Olesinski, its longtime design partner. Much like a fast-displacement design, it prioritizes performance at both high and low speeds. According to Princess, the X90 uses 10 percent less power than the Princess Y85, which has a conventional hull, once she exceeds 16 knots.

While Princess Yachts continues outfitting this upcoming delivery, it’s simultaneously making progress on four more hulls under construction. Further noteworthy, seven X90s went under contract before this one hit the water. “The strong demand we’ve seen ahead of launch reflects the excitement around this model,” says Will Green, Princess’s CEO. “She represents a bold step forward for Princess.”
Future potential owners can get onboard during the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival. Select Princess clients will see her first, however, during an invitation-only event in London just prior to the yacht show.
