Get the leis ready: Delta Marine is building a Balinese-themed 164-footer (50-meter), featuring as many engineering highlights as she will decorative ones.
Hull number 164041 (Delta has not revealed the yacht’s name) marks the sixth time the Seattle-based yard is employing its 50-meter full-displacement hull form, designed in-house. The yacht should be voluminous, with a 552-ton displacement at half load and gross tonnage of 781 ITC. (ITC stands for the International Tonnage Convention, which provides a different way to measure gross tons than the U.S. system and is considered to be a more accurate depiction of a vessel’s volume.)
Some of the technical achievements come to play in performance. The megayacht is meant for transoceanic cruising, and as such is expected to see a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 13 knots while powered by twin Caterpillar http://www.cat.marine.com 3512Bs. Nearly 22,000 gallons of fuel will also aid in those ocean crossings. When entertaining the owner and guests, she’ll probably operate more at her anticipated cruising speed of 14.5 knots. Top end should be 16 knots.
The 12 guests plus the owners are sure to marvel at yet another technical achievement, since it’s an aesthetic one, too. The tender will be able to float on in to its dedicated garage when returning from a day of zipping around the port.
Of course, the owners and guests will spend time enjoying the yacht’s interior spaces, where Macassar ebony, wenge, and koa woods will combine for rich tones and textures. Fabrics incorporating tropical flowers found in Bali as well as other island-oriented accents should set a nice backdrop to the 7,500 square feet of living space, from the upper-deck master suite to four guest staterooms below decks. The Delta Design Group (Delta Marine’s in-house team) will oversee these details.
Further making this megayacht stand apart: a library/office on the main deck, opposite a gym and sauna, all graced with large windows; an elevator connecting all four decks, including the teak-lined sundeck; and a private alfresco dining and relaxation area aft of the owner’s suite.
Delivery of the 34-foot-beam beauty is set for next year.
