As part of its intention to strengthen its reach among international superyacht clientele, RMK Marine’s yachting division has established a formal presence on American shores. A Miami office for RMK Yachts is now open at RMK-Merrill Stevens shipyard (above).
Heading the office is Juan Morillo, a locally based broker who has been representing the shipyard for some time. The location at the RMK-Merrill Stevens yard, which handles service and refit, is more than just convenience for him. Morillo will coordinate efforts between the yard and the service team, too.
Notably, while the Miami office for RMK Yachts is new, the Turkish shipyard also moves into a new facility in Yalova later this year (below). Superyachts will undergo construction and outfitting in three sheds measuring 98 by 394 feet (30 to 120 meters). Two further hangars will handle yacht refits, with one being 131 by 262 feet (40 by 80 meters). The second shed is still sizable, 115 by 180 feet (35 to 55 to meters). Additional open space will handle refits, too. Finally, RMK Yachts will have a floating dock capable of handling projects to 492 feet (150 meters).

To complement the shed space and on-the-hard space, the shipyard will include dedicated workshops and offices. Especially important, the new site permits designing hospitality spaces solely for owners and their representatives. It further allows creating gyms for captains and crew plus training areas for them. “The true value of a shipyard is not defined by its machinery, but by the intellect, craftsmanship, and creativity it produces,” says Cüneyt Okcu, RMK Yachts’ director.
Okcu also points to the importance of having Morillo available to meet with customers. “For U.S. clients, proximity is not simply a preference, it is a matter of trust,” he notes. “Having a physical presence there means being accessible, accountable, and responsive, particularly when it comes to after-sales support and warranty service.”
