Proteksan Turquoise is building this nearly 243-footer (74-meter). The yard refers to her simply as NB59, but she’s also known as Project Stingray.
Project Stingray, designed by Proteksan Turquoise, is based on the general arrangement of Vicky. Delivered in 2012 by the Turkey-based yard, Vicky has an upper-deck owner’s suite and all guest staterooms on the main deck. Since Project Stingray is for sale (Fraser Yachts has the central listing, for €49.5 million, or about $64.1 million), the arrangement can be tailored. For example, four or five guest suites can be created. With the smaller number, Project Stingray gains a full-beam VIP fully forward. It has pocket doors separating the sleeping area from a lounging area. The setup will surely make good use of the 42’4” (12.92-meter) beam.
As for the owner’s suite, Project Stingray positions it at about amidships one deck up. In keeping with current trends, a balcony is to each side. The suite can also be arranged as you wish. One suggested layout features an open flow between the bed and TV/office areas. If you and your spouse fight over closet space at home, you can each have generous walk-in closets aboard Project Stingray. And, of course, you can have a marble tub with a view out over the ocean.
Since the entire general arrangement of Project Stingray is still open to customization, there are a few more suggested features. Take the lower deck, for example. Here, you can have a gym to one side and a private cinema opposite, just forward of the engine room. Or, imagine Project Stingray with a larger wellness area here. That could include a massage room, a steam room, and/or a hair salon. Keep the theme going with a lounging area, complete with bar, just inside the beach club. Want to take along a bunch of toys? Project Stingray’s garage, with swing-up hatches to each side, can hold PWCs, two tenders, and dive gear.
The options extend to the crew cabins, too. Project Stingray can include 11 crew cabins below decks, all forward. An extra crew cabin—perhaps a pilot cabin, if you’ll venture to areas requiring piloting assistance—can go opposite the crew mess. They’ll appreciate Project Stingray including a dumbwaiter dedicated to ship’s stores, connecting the main deck and the bilge deck. Dry-storage rooms will be down there, along with extra refrigerators and freezers. A food lift will connect the main, upper, and sun decks.
The captain’s cabin, of course, is just aft of the wheelhouse and ship’s office. The electronics suite is further open to choice, but Proteksan Turquoise has anticipated Caterpillar power for propulsion. Twin 2,447-hp 3516B diesels should permit a 15-knot cruise and 17-knot top end. Project Stingray should see a best range of 7,000 miles.
With a draft of 12”10” (3.95 meters), Project Stingray can be completed in 2016. She’ll meet ABS classification and be LY2 compliant.
