There’s something special about the way a wood yacht feels. Spirit Yachts certainly agrees, as all of its sailing yachts, even its sailing superyachts, are constructed of the material. The same will be true of the Spirit 110, the UK yard’s latest design, when a client signs a contract.
The Spirit 110 should be equally suited to private cruises and regattas alike. Draft is a fixed 14’1″ (4.3 meters), with a sail area of 5,651 square feet (525 square meters). The builder emphasizes light weight and strength, from the wood and epoxy hull to the carbon fiber rigging. Spirit Yachts also emphasizes style, of course, as evident from its signature fan-shape skylights. They blend into the coachroof, to keep the Spirit 110 looking clean. It’s interesting (and unusual) to note that the Spirit 110 sprang from the drawing boards of the builder’s CEO, Sean McMillan, who also serves as the chief designer.
An owner’s party of six, plus four crew, will be accommodated onboard. Spirit Yachts is offering the Spirit 110 on a custom basis, so the general arrangement, benefiting from a 20’4″ (6.2-meter) beam, can be arranged as you wish. Once a customer does sign the dotted line, the Spirit 110 will be built in a brand-new construction hall. Spirit Yachts anticipates completing that hall this summer. It will focus on sailing superyachts to 120 feet (about 36.6 meters)—as well as power yachts to this size, too.
You read that right. While Spirit Yachts may be most famous for supplying the pretty sailboat that 007 (a.k.a. Daniel Craig) cruised into Venice aboard in Casino Royale, it’s also keenly interested in developing more motoryacht projects. The builder already has plans for a 110 motoryacht.
Spirit Yachts will have further drawings and details for the Spirit 110 at its stand at the London Yacht, Jet & Prestige Car Show in early April. You can also obtain more information about the project by filling out our contact form.
