This leather-clad Scrabble set is the handiwork of Georges and Monica Bloumels, profiled in this month’s edition of the Megayacht News newsletter. More than artisans, the Bloumels are official licensees of Hasbro, which owns the rights to the ever-popular Scrabble board game. The couple custom-makes not just the covers but lambskin-clad tile holders for the letter pieces and the 102 game tiles themselves. The Bloumels count the megayacht Vava II among their high-end clients thus far. If you have the newsletter, you can learn how to commission a tailored Scrabble set for your yacht, even imprinted with your yacht’s name.
Other stories include the debut of the Princess 35M. The smaller sister to the 40M, which premiered two years ago, this 115-footer is capable of a top end ranging from 23 to 27 knots, depending on the power package you select. She also provides a choice of three or four guest staterooms. Then there’s coverage of the expansion taking place at Abeking & Rasmussen. By the end of the summer, the yard will be able to accommodate some significantly mega-size megayachts.
