They’re admittedly a small number. But, the newly expanded docks at Harborage Marina in St. Petersburg, Florida mean super-size superyachts can now dock there.
Harborage Marina created an extension that can accommodate megayachts side-to or stern-to. Side-to, four megayachts up to 200 feet (61 meters) each can stay there. If you prefer traditional docking, you and six other megayachts to 200 feet can tie up. Built-in pump-out facilities are included in the new dock. These are in addition to 10 new slips for smaller yachts.
The extension is a floating concrete dock system, for safety, security, and durability. For the same reason, it includes a wave attenuator, offering protection from Tampa Bay’s traffic.
Harborage Marina’s management believes there will be a big impact. “We get requests almost daily for large slips with adequate power and facilities, and now we are able to accommodate these people,” says Capt. Brian Sweeney, the general manager. He adds, “The demand for larger slips with adequate utilities has never been higher. Half of the new slips were leased before construction began, and now we are almost sold out. Everyone loves the new docks.”
All together, Harborage Marina has a 355-boat capacity. This makes it among the largest marinas along Florida’s Gulf Coast. It also has a captains’ lounge and pool, the latter including sunning space, a tiki hut, and barbecues. Furthermore, it has 24-hour security and a private gate. If you or your guests are catching a flight, the marina is 35 minutes from Tampa’s airport. A number of conveniences are within walking distance of Harborage Marina, too. They include a supermarket and restaurants. The St. Petersburg Grand Prix, featuring Indy cars, is adjacent to the property. Museums and more are in St. Petersburg’s central district, about a half mile away. And, large-yacht-support services are located in the nearby Salt Creek Marine District.
