When the yacht Lumina headed stern-first down the slipway at Benetti’s historic Viareggio site today, it was a past-meets-future moment. The yacht is simultaneously the latest launch in Benetti’s flagship semi-custom series and a sign of what the builder intends to come.
The yacht Lumina joins the Benetti Class 44M series, which is still relatively new. In fact, the yacht Juno’s 7 was hull number one, a delivery from 2025. Both styling and interior design for the series are from Cassetta Yacht Designers, emphasizing significant space. In fact, the 145-foot (44-meter) Lumina stands four decks tall. Full-height glass on the main and upper decks accentuates the feeling of voluminousness. So, too, does liberal use of glass bulkheads on the main deck, upper deck, and sundeck, truly allowing the owners and guests aboard the yacht Lumina to enjoy views for miles. Speaking of the sundeck, which is one of the most treasured places for cruisers to spend each day, guests have about 1,100 square feet (102 square meters) to spread out and relax.

Although Benetti isn’t revealing information about the décor, overall, it and the design studio encourage choosing FSC-certified woods. FSC is the Forestry Stewardship Council, which ensures that woods come from responsibly managed forests.
As much as the launch of the yacht Lumina signaled her nearing completion, it signaled the importance of the Viareggio yard. According to Benetti, 70 percent of its yacht work occurs there and across 13 other sites within Tuscany. Because of this, the Azimut-Benetti Group intends to invest €100 million (approximately $113.56 million) through 2028 in the yards. Sheds will enlarge, for instance, solar panels will produce energy, and executive offices and client-reception areas will undergo redesign. Additionally, funds will go toward developing new megayacht models and employing new technology. Finally, Lusben Refit operations will see upgrades. All of this follows €77 million (about $87.4 million) already invested in Tuscany over the past three years.

Furthermore, Benetti plans to continue supporting professional-training programs. As a founding member of the ISYL Foundation (Italian Super Yacht Life Foundation), it has helped upwards of 600 graduates launch careers since 2015.
In the meantime, look for the yacht Lumina to begin cruising this summer.
