While about 125 yachts fill the docks at this week’s Monaco Yacht Show, they’re not the only things buyers are checking out. More than a dozen superyacht tenders and toys are on land and in the water, too. In fact, the show organizers created a dedicated section to them in response to two particular needs. First, new yacht buyers coming into the market crave more action, and more on- (or even in-) water fun. It’s no longer good enough to have some PWCs, wakeboards, and a boat to take guests to shore and/or tow waterskiiers. Second, specific to charter, tenders and toys are a big part of the experience. Clients want diverse offerings.
With these in mind, here are five items of particular interest at the show. If you are at home, make a note to ask your tenders and toys specialist about putting one, or more, of these onboard.
Flyboard. You’ve probably seen the viral videos of acrobatic antics done with the Flyboard. Slip your feet into the boots, attached to a board with a waterhose that in turn connects to your PWC, and up you go. The company claims it’s simple enough for teens and adults to master in the first try.
Wajer 38. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Wajer Yachts builds dayboats to 55 feet. The Wajer 38 runs as smooth as silk, thanks to IPS power. Her U-shape seating area means your entire party can sit comfortably for daytrips or quick runs to shore. For something a bit bigger, consider the Wajer 55. Our own editor, Diane M. Byrne, sea trialed the boat earlier this summer and was impressed by its smooth acceleration, nimble handling, and comfortable ride. Worth noting, Wajer has served official tender roles at previous Monaco shows for various yacht builders. It’s even treated attendees of the Monaco Grand Prix (top) to test rides.
SeaBob. It seems like no superyacht tenders and toys collection is complete without at least a few SeaBobs (above). No wonder. The lightweight device lets you drive over and dive just under the water’s surface. Available in a few different models, each SeaBob is lightweight and made for quick maneuvering.
iBubble. If you dive, you’ve seen plenty of wondrous fish and plants. The iBubble lets you share the scenery with friends and family. It’s an autonomous video drone that follows you and your fellow divers. A wireless bracelet on your wrist instructs the iBubble which way you’re going, so it can follow silently and smoothly. Equally noteworthy, the drone can descend down to 230 feet.
Platforms. Extend your swim platform beyond its natural perimeters with the variety of platforms made by NautiBuoy Marine. Some suit just sitting and sunning (above), while others are ideal as floating docks for your tenders and toys. In fact, ones specifically suit SeaBobs and PWCs. The company Superyacht Tenders and Toys has platforms at the show and can tailor a setup to your needs.
