Thirty-three feet (10 meters) in length, The Onda 331GT is no ordinary open tender. It has a modular design, allowing you to arrange seating and more as you see fit. What’s more, you can expect maximum velocity: 60-knot speeds are possible, even with “only” a set of 250-hp outboards.
Onda Tenders got its start in Greece in 1962, initially building recreational powerboats and military vessels. It switched to focus on superyacht tenders in 2016, offering sizes from 26 to 39 feet (8 to 12 meters). Each sees construction at the Onda facility in Thiva, Greece, with materials from top-name suppliers in the United States as well as Europe. In addition, each tender bears design by Mannerfelt Design Team. Based in Scandinavia, the design studio has experience with offshore racing.
Interestingly, the Onda 331GT sprang somewhat from a Mannerfelt-styled limousine tender, one of three Onda models. (The manufacturer further has a T-top tender, employing a military hull design.) Adding the GT, a chase boat, simply made sense, since the company noted the popularity of open tenders rise in recent years.
Featuring composite construction, including foam coring, the Onda 331GT prioritizes light weight. Two steps in the deep-V hull help reduce drag, too. In turn, this means the tender burns less fuel and benefits from better performance. As mentioned above, you can power her with just twin 250-hp outboards, still seeing thrilling speeds. However, higher-horsepower options are available, too. Equally noteworthy, you can outfit the tender with triple engines.
Options abound for space considerations as well. With a 10’8” (3.25-meter) beam, the tender lets guests and crew move around the center console easily. Request a table aft to complement the U-shape seating area. Even better, request a hi-lo table, for more versatility. The Onda 331GT can even have a disappearing table, with it stowing away beneath the sole. If you like a color-coordinated tender, the manufacturer can match the tubes to your primary yacht’s hull paint. Fabrics, leathers, and even decking provide additional customization opportunities.
