Turkey-based Mazu Yachts may be a boutique yacht builder, but it has eyes on global clientele. It’s struck a partnership with the sales and charter firm Yachtzoo as the exclusive sales agent for its steel displacement superyachts.
Mazu Yachts started out building carbon-composite dayboats. A few years ago, it added carbon-composite megayacht models. It then decided to expand into displacement projects, with the Mazu 92 DS being the first of this type. Hull number one has accommodations for eight in the owners’ party, including a master suite surprisingly being on the main deck. Not surprisingly, however, fold-down bulwarks at the transom expand the already-good usable space for lounging and boarding watertoys. Notably, while the 92 DS has a steel hull, she doesn’t have an aluminum superstructure. In fact, the superstructure is composite, to keep weight down. This also lends the 92 DS a good turn of speed, 22 knots at top end. Power comes from triple 800-hp Volvo Penta IPS 1050s.
Two further displacement models remain in the Mazu Yachts pipeline. They’re the 112 DS and the 132 DS. Regardless of model, each has a decidedly modern exterior styling, with buyers able to customize the interiors to their liking. Like the 92 DS, the two larger superyachts have composite superstructures. With design work already finalized for the 112 DS, the shipyard anticipates quadruple 1,000-hp Volvo Penta IPS 1350s will permit a 20-knot maximum speed. The 132 DS, meanwhile, should see 16 knots at top speed with twin 1,000-hp MANs. All three models meet RINA classification requirements.
Yachtzoo plans to tap its global reach to bring more buyers. Halit Yukay, the founder and managing director of Mazu Yachts, and Kyle van Huizen, a Yachtzoo sales broker, both say their companies are “thrilled” to join forces. Yukay adds, “Both companies share a commitment to excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction.”
