A longtime power-yacht enthusiast has switched to the sail side. Moroever, he’s made the switch while remaining loyal to the builder of his previous yachts. The sailing yacht Otoctone, which hit the water at Sunreef Yachts this month, is an electric sailing yacht, too.
This client has commissioned and owned two Sunreef motoryachts in years past. They include an 80 Sunreef Power catamaran in 2020. He liked the space advantages and stability of the Polish builder’s catamarans. The work that the shipyard has done to develop solar panels integrated within the composite structure of its yachts caught his attention, though. The cleaner power generation, along with a fumes-free and quiet cruising experience, held great appeal, too. The yacht Otoctone can rely on a set of 550-kW batteries and a pair of 240-hp engines. Additionally, once her sailplan is onboard, she’ll be able to generate “green” power via a hydrogeneration system. She’ll further have a main sail, a genoa, a gennaker, and a staysail.
With about 3,660 square feet (340 square meters) of relaxation space onboard, the Sunreef 80 Eco sailing yacht is semi-custom. Naturally, the owner of Otoctone took advantage of this. Although details on the woods, stones, and more throughout the décor aren’t available, he kept the standard four-cabin configuration. Typically, the master suite sits in the starboard-side hull. A VIP, meanwhile, goes in the port-side hull, while the remaining guest staterooms sit toward the bow in each hull. Most buyers further keep the galley below decks to port, freeing up the main deck for abundant relaxation and dining space.
Further lounging areas, plus sunning space, sit on the flying bridge, with even more dining and view-indulging space aft on the main deck.
The owner of the yacht Otoctone will enjoy private cruises yet also make her available for charter. She’ll be based in the western Med starting next summer.
