AB Yachts has been building high-performance megayachts under its own name since its founding in 1992. Thanks to a partnership with a luxury company whose tailor-made modifications to sports cars, motorcycles, and more have earned loyal fans, it’s building a new range, Brabus Yachts.
AB Yachts’ focus is the 80- to 130-foot (24- to 39.6-meter) market. From superyacht to superyacht, each project has sleek lines, custom-made interiors, and high speeds, up to 60 knots. Located in the heart of Italy’s yacht-building region of Viareggio, AB Yachts has especially been growing its marketshare in the United States in recent years.
Brabus, meanwhile, is a German luxury mobility brand dating to 1977. Its primary focus has been limited-edition, highly modified supercars, although it has extended its reach into pleasureboating. In fact, several years ago, it forged a collaboration with Axopar Boats, a Finnish builder, for the Brabus Shadow range. Last year, the first Sunreef Yachts production catamaran debuted with Brabus detailing, too. Brabus Yachts is the company’s first foray into superyacht and ultra-tailored territory.

“This collaboration opens up a completely new dimension for us,” notes Constantin Buschmann, Brabus’ CEO and owner. It unites “our love for bold design” with the bold performance and looks of AB Yachts’ boats. “AB Yachts has exactly the kind of energy we’re looking for: the drive to challenge what is possible, to push boundaries and create something that instantly feels special,” he adds.
Giorgio Mattei, the deputy chairman of Next Yacht Group, the parent company of AB Yachts, agrees. More than simply badging, each of the Brabus Yachts are “co-designed,” he says. “From the outset, this partnership has been both inspiring and natural.” From the very first meeting, “it was, quite simply, love at first sight.”
We requested details on the number of models and LOAs of the projects, but didn’t receive a response by press time. However, AB Yachts says the first megayacht will debut at this September’s Monaco Yacht Show. The teaser image from the shipyard (top) appears to reveal a flying bridge and open transom. AB Yachts already plans to build a second project in time to exhibit at the 2027 show, too.
